MOIL Ties up with South African firm to expand its activities
New Delhi, Sep 14 (UNI) The Maharashtra based public sector Manganese Ore India Limited (MOIL) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with a South African firm called Bateman Engineering to enable it to invest in mines of ferro manganese by shortlisting opportunities overseas.
According to an official sources, on completing its investigations, Bateman Engineering will negotiate a separate agreement with MOIL to design and build its plants. It would also provide smelting furnaces. The MoU is expected to further strengthen the relationship between India and South Africa in the mining sector.
These issues were discussed during a meeting with the Minister of State for Steel Dr Akhilesh Das, with a two-member delegation here this evening. He was briefed on the mining potential of different ores in South Africa where India could also possibly set up joint ventures. Dr Das was informed that India is a preferred destination for South African entrepreneurs.
