Madhu Koda to be new CM of Jharkhand
Ranchi, Sep 14: The UPA today unanimously elected Mr Madhu Koda, an Independent MLA, to be the new Chief Minister of Jharkhand replacing Mr Arjun Munda who resigned this morning without facing a trial of strength in the Assembly.
Mr Koda became an unanimous choice, Ms Noor Banu (Cong), in-charge of Jharkhand told UNI and added that they would go to the Raj Bhavan to stake claim to form the alternative government.
Immediately after Mr Munda tendered resignation to Governor Syed Sibtey Razi, the UPA embarked on parleys that referred the selection of its leader to chairperson Sonia Gandhi.
However, Ms Gandhi asked the state level leaders to take a final decision.
