K'taka Legislature Winter session in Belgaum from Sep 25-29
Bangalore, Sep 14 (UNI) Karnataka Horticulture Minister Shashikant Naik today announced that a five-day Winter session of both the Houses of the Karnataka Legislature will be held in Belgaum from September 25 to 29.
Talking to reporters after a meeting headed by Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy here, he said Karnataka Governor T N Chaturvedi would inaugurate the session, to be held for the first time outside Bangalore, on September 25.
Mr Naik said Mr Kumaraswamy had expressed his desire to create permanent infrastructure in Belgaum for holding winter session. A 700-acre land was available just outside Belgaum city for constructing a mini Vidhan Soudha, if the Government desired.
It may be recalled that the historic decision of holding the winter session of the Legislature in Belgaum was taken at a marathon Cabinet meeting yesterday, mainly to assert that the city, the bone of contention between Karnataka and Maharashtra for many years, was indeed a part of the State.
