International meet on camel in Bikaner
Jaipur, Sep 14 (UNI) A two-day international conference on camels will be held in Bikaner from December 31.
The meet, organised by the Veterinary College and Rajasthan Agriculture University (RAU), Bikaner, will attract scientists from 10 countries, informed Prof Parmatma Singh, Vice Chancellor, RAU.
The meet will discuss the modern trend in researches on camels, also known as the ship of the desert, along with future strategies of saving this species.
Over 1.90 crore camels of different species exist in the world.
Its population in India is around 6.30 lakh and the country is ranked fifth in regard to population of the camels in the world.
Rajasthan will celebrate the camel festival from January 2-4, 2007.
