Heavy showers in Delhi plummet mercury to 30 Degree Celsius
New Delhi, Sep 14 (UNI) After a lull in rainfall for over a week, heavy showers lashed Delhi early this morning, plummeting the mercury in the capital and bringing tremendous relief to people.
The heavy rains, which started at around 0500 hours, was followed by a heavily overcast sky since last night. About 52 mm of rainfall had been recorded in Delhi since last night till 1730 hours, the weather office said.
The rainfall led to a sharp fall in mercury, providing tremendous relief to Delhites from the sultry conditions of last week.
The minimum temperature dropped almost four degrees to 22.9 Degree Celsius, from 26 degrees Celsius yesterday while the maximum fell from 36 degree C yesterday to 30.2 Degree C today, four degrees below normal.
More rain is expected during the next 24 hours with the weathermen predicting a generally cloudy sky with possibility of thundershowers in some parts of Delhi during the next 24 hours.
Today's showers came after after a heavy spell in the last week of August which saw the city receive nearly 210 mm of rainfall.
