Grasim to upgrade Bhiwani plant with Rs 75 cr

Chandigarh, Sep 14 (UNI) Grasim Industries, flagship company of the Aditya Birla Group, is investing Rs 75 crore in the Bhiwani plant for modernisation, technological upgradation in areas of design development.

The company is also increasing the capacity to 18 million metres from the present 15 million metres of fabric annually for which part investment has already been made.

''In line with the growth plans, we are investing close to Rs 75 crore in the Bhiwani plant for modernisation, technological upgradation and in areas of design development,'' company Head Marketing, Textiles division, J S Kataria, told mediapersons at the launched of Grasim's new range of fabrics here.

Grasim, at present, outsources the manufacturing upto 15 per cent that is 100,000 meters per day of polyester viscose, polyester linen and other fabrics of its domestic sales from counties such as China, Korea and Italy.

The new collection 'Look of the Season' comprises five fabric offerings -- Medova, Juventus, Plural, Caramel and Luztor -- designed on the basis of an R&D exercise and consumer insights.

Medova is a polyester-model based product and Plural is a unique blend of three fibers -- polyester, model and wool.

Juventus is a polywool product, Caramel addresses the demand for softer fabrics while Luztor fabric comes with a unique luster.
