Four women washed away in flash floods in Gadag district

Hubli, Sep 14 (UNI) Four women of a family were washed away in the flash floods at Gulbi nallah in Gadag district late last evening, official sources said today.

The victims were labourers returning to their village along with ten others when the flash floods struck, the sources said.

Ten people were rescued while four Basamma Jaggal, Shekaravva Jaggal, Madavva Jaggal, Kavita Jaggal-belonging to a single family of Kotumuchagi village were swept away.

Senior police and revenue officials have rushed to the spot and search for the victims was on.

Nargund taluk of Gadag district received a record rainfall of 151.08 mm throwing the normal life out of gear in seven villages in the taluk. Several houses were inundated in the low lying areas of these villages.
