Floodwaters wash away one

Itanagar, Sept 14: In a tragic incident, one 60-year-old person of model village of Kimin in Papum Pare district was washed away by the swollen floodwaters of river Kimin.

The incident occurred on Tuesday last when the victim was trying to cross over the river to reach the town on other bank of the river, police sources said here today.

While informing that the Kimin township has been facing flood threats, Kimin ZPM Bameng Mangha said besides the casualty, floodwaters also washed away many domesticated animals.

In Anini, headquarters of Dibang Valley district, has remained cut off from rest of the country, as several points on the Anini-Roing road got blocked by landslides due to incessant rainfalls for the last three days.

Border Road Task Force (BRTF) sources informed that major blocked points were at Endolin Nallah near 173 km point, Arzoo circle headquarters, 62 km point from Roing and many minor blocked points at several places.

The district administration has requested the government for immediate arrangment of at least two helicopters from Roing to Anini to airlift the stranded passengers including local MLA Rajesh Tacho, sources added.
