EMC Corp office, logistics centre in TN capital

Chennai, Sept 14: EMC Corp, a leader in information management and storage, has announced the opening of its office and customer support and logistics centre in Chennai.

This formed part of the 500 million US Dollar investment to be made by the company in India by 2010, EMC India and SAARC Region Country Manager Manoj Chugh told reporters.

Pointing out that Tamil Nadu accounted for 30 billion USD exports from India, he said the state was a preferred destination for IT, telecom and manufacturing as it had good infrastructure with positive government policies to attract investment.

Quoting IDC, he said the external storage market was one of the fastest expanding segments within IT with a projected 14.8 per cent CAGR from 2005 to 2010.

Mr Chugh said the total market size for information management and storage industry in India was about 200 million USD of which EMC accounted for a little over 21 per cent.
