DIG granted anticipatory bail

Patna, Sep 14 (UNI) Patna High Court today granted anticipatory bail to DIG (Railway) Ajay Verma in connection with alleged misuse of his official position.

A single Judge bench of Justice Navin Sinha granted the bail to Mr Verma after hearing the arguments of both sides.

Earlier, Mr Verma's counsel had alleged that he was being unnecessarlily harassed by his senior officers. He said Mr Verma had directed to lodge FIR against a retired school teacher Rajendra Rai on the basis of complaints of his wife and daughter.

Later, Mr Rai lodged a false complaint against Mr Verma and police moved the court for issuance of an arrest warrant for him in this connection. On the other hand, the case registered against Mr.

Rai was not properly investigated.

Mr Rai had lodged an FIR in Town police station in Vaishali district on January 24, alleging that Mr.Verma had misused his position to mediate in his property dispute.
