DIC(K) dissidents decide to join Congress
Thrissur, Sep 14 (UNI) A meeting of the leaders and workers of the Democratic Indira Congress(K), who are opposed to the merger of the party with Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), decided to return to the parent Congress party today.
Talking to mediapersons here after the meeting, DIC(K) Vice-President and former minister P Sankaran said a state level conference of the workers slated to be held at Kochi on September 20 would finalise the details in this regard.
Alleging that DIC(K) founder-leader K Karunakaran and his son and party President K Muraleedharan were taking decisions ''unilaterally,'' he said the proposed merger of the party with the NCP was aimed at ensuring a Rajya Sabha seat for the latter from Maharashtra.
