Court sends 5 accused to police custody
Nashik, Sep 14 (UNI) Five people arrested by police in connection with yesterday's seizure of explosives and a pistol in the town have been remanded to police custody by a local court.
While Mohammad Khatim Bhai, Wasim Sayyid, Zuber Ghulam and Shabir Khan were today remanded to police custody till September 22 by the court of Judicial Magistrate Chitra Ahankare, Feroze Khan Pathan alias Munna was remanded yesterday till September 19.
Police sources said three more suspects are wanted in the case.
A box containing five gelatin sticks, 18 detonators, one country-made pistol along with a live cartridge and an empty were recovered from the apartment of Wasim Sayyid in Rajsarthi Housing Society at Indira Nagar.
The seizure was made on a tip-off provided by a man detained after a packet containing 12 gelatin sticks and detonators by an 8-year-old boy on Monday.
Found abandoned in front of a hospital at Mirajkar ground on Nagji-Wadala road in the city, the improvised explosive device (IED) with a timer was concealed in a plastic bag.
When alerted, police bomb disposal squad defused the bomb and averted a possible tragedy.
