Aizawl, Sep 14 (UNI) Mizoram's apex body of Church Leaders Kohhran Hruaitute Committee (MKHC) has expressed concern over ''Hindu movements'' in the state.

Addressing a meeting of the state's different church representatives, the MKHC leaders said the ''Hindu movements'' had victimised a large number of people and immediate steps should be taken to counter it.

Mr Rodinmawia Ralte, lecturer, Academy of Integrated Christian Studies, said India has 366.5 million Hindus, who form about 82 per cent of total population, followed by 46.9 million Muslims and 10.7 million Christians.

Rev L H Rawsea, lecturer Aizawl Theological College, alleged that the Hindus have started a movement to convert India into a Hindu Rashtra.

''Hinduism was a tolerant religion in the past but has changed now and a move towards saffronising the whole nation has been mooted by Hindu fundamentalists, '' he added.
