Christian leaders concern over Hindu movement in Mizoram

Aizawl, Sep 14 (UNI) Mizoram's apex body of Church Leaders Kohhran Hruaitute Committee (MKHC) has expressed concern over "Hindu movements" in state.

Addressing a meeting of state's different church representatives, the MKHC leaders said the "Hindutva movement" had victimised a large number of people and immediate steps should be taken to counter the movement.

Rodinmawia Ralte, lecturer of the Academy of Integrated Christian Studies, said India has 366.5 million Hindus, about 82 per cent of total population followed by 46.9 million Islam followers and the third with 10.7 million Christians.

Rev L H Rawsea, lecturer of Aizawl Theological College, allehged that the Hindus have started a movement to convert India into a Hindu Rashtra.

''Hinduism was a tolerant religion in the past but has changed imperceptly now and a move towards saffronising the whole nation has been mooted by Hindu fundamentalists, '' he added.
