Chandigarh boys thrash Delhi team in Subroto Cup opener

New Delhi, Sep 14 (UNI) The Government Model Senior Secondary School, Chandigarh spanked Mamta Modern Senior Secondary School, Vikaspuri (Delhi) with a tennis-like score of 6-0 in the inaugural match here today.

In the junior (Under-17) category match, both teams gauged each other in the first 25 minutes before the Chandigarh boys opened their account. Rakesh Kumar found the target in the 23rd minute to open the floodgates and there was no looking back since then for the Chandigarh boys.

Gurjinder Kumar increased the lead within three minutes and barely another five minutes, Gagandeep made it 3-0.

Sukhvinder Singh scored the fourth goal of the match and within one minute, Gurtej Singh struck and the latter completed his brace by scoring again in the 60th minute.

Prior to the start of the match, there was an impressive aero-modelling by NCC Cadets besides gymnastic display.
