Bharti Airtel deploys Oracle single instance
New Delhi, Sep 14 (UNI) Telecom major Bharti Airtel today announced the completion of its implementation of Oracle Financials and Oracle Human Resources Management Systems (HRMS).
The Oracle implementation, which started in 2005, was part of the strategic business consolidation undertaken by Bharti Airtel to integrate the processes and systems of its different business units under 'One Airtel'.
''Our main motive is to standardise operations across the different strategic business units of the company. We will complete this mission along with IBM, our strategic partner in IT,'' Bharti Airtel Director (IT and Innovation) Jai Menon told reporters here.
The Oracle implementation will provide a platform to deliver real-time financial and human resources information as well as give the organisation higher operational efficiency, along with better visibility and enhanced management over its financial and HR operations, he said.
The first stage has been completed by levaraging uniform business through an integrated finance and HR system. The next phase is in progress to implement supply chain and learning management software systems using Oracle applications, Mr Menon added.
''We have 10,000 employees in India and wish to invest more in the Indian market,'' Oracle Vice President Ashraf Khalek said.
Bharti Airtel IT strategy is aligned for the delivery of 'One Airtel' through two major focus areas -- 'BIZ' and 'INT'.
While the BIZ area focusses on customer facing systems capabilities, the INT area is focussed on organisation and internal facing systems capabilities. The Oracle single instance deployment is part of the INT focus area.
