Chandigarh, Sep 14 (UNI) The Punjab and Haryana High Court today confirmed the interim bail granted to three of the four girl students of Panjab University, who had been allegedly involved in an incident of firing in Sarabha Nagar, Ludhiana, in May this year.

The counsel for Tript Kaur Pannu, Sukhdeep Kaur and Neha Saini argued that the girls were implicated in the case by the son of a Congress leader who had been making overtures to them but was scorned.

The girls counsel also maintained that the name of the involved person was not revealed for the safety of the concerned family.

All the petitioners have also maintained that they did not go to Ludhiana as had been alleged and were in Chandigarh on the given date, but the Congress leader's son, in connivance with the police officials, had managed registration of a case of firing in the air.
