Atal Behari Vajpayee to dedicate Bansagar project

Bhopal, Sept 14: Former Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee will dedicate to the nation the Rs 2800 crore multipurpose Bansagar project in Madhya Pradesh on Deendayal Upadhyaya birth anniversary on September 25.

After the 1000 megawatt Indira Sagar project, this would be the second major project to be completed in the state since the BJP came to power, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said.

Bansagar project, besides generating 425 mw power, will irrigate 1.54 lakh hectare area in Rewa, Sidhi, Satna and Shahdol districts after completion of canal work in June next year.

Construction work of this project was started in 1978.
