Akhil Bharatiya Imam Association calls on Mah CM
Mumbai, Sep 14 (UNI) The Akhil Bharatiya Imam Association delegation called on Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh urging that innocent people from the minority community be protected from police harrasment.
A 13-member delegation led by Maulana Sajid Rashidi told the Chief Minister that police were targeting innocent Muslims in Malegaon and Bhiwandi while investigating the blasts case.
Mr Deshmkh assured them that no innocent persons would be targeted while persuing the blasts case to bring the culprits to the book. He asked the delegation to meet Mumbai police commissioner A N Roy and discuss their grievances.
Deputy Chief Minister R R Patil said ulemas in Malegaon had played an important role in ensuring that communal peace and harmony was maintained.
