36 monkey carcasses recovered

Pilibhit, Sep 14 (UNI) Police have recovered carcasses of at least 36 monkeys, who were allegedly poisoned by some miscreants in Churra Chauras Hardua village.

Police today said acting on a tip-off, cops rushed to the spot and seized the monkey carcasses last night.

Later, ADM R C Srivastava and SP Anil Pandey also visited the area. The autopsy report confirmed poison as the cause of death.

Meanwhile, animal activist Meneka Gandhi has been informed of the incident. Investigations are on.
