Ten CCTVs to be installed at Mysore palace
Mysore, Sep 13 (UNI) With a view to step up security measures inside the magnificent Mysore Palace, the Palace Board has decided to install ten closed circuit televisions (CCTVs) soon.
Palace Board Deputy Director P V Avaradi said today that cameras would be installed in ten vantage points to monitor movement of visitors from the office of the Palace Board. The main entrance, steps and the venue where the Golden Throne would be on display, would be among the chosen places. The system, costing Rs two lakh, would start functioning before the coming Dasara festivities. The installation and maintenance have been entrusted with a city-based firm.
The KPTCL proposed to install an illuminated image of Goddess Chamundeswari, the principal deity of Mysore, near Rajendra village Palace atop Chamundi hills. However, the scion of the erstwhile Mysore Royal family Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wadiyar had opposed the proposal and suggested that the Palace Board install it near the Chamundeswari temple. Efforts would continue to persuade Mr Wadiyar, he added.
