Sheila Dikshit to inaugurate 9-day Delhi Book Fair beginning Sep 16
New Delhi, Sep 13 (UNI) Over 260 leading publishers and booksellers from India and abroad will be taking part in Delhi Book Fair which showcases the Indian Publishing Industry.
Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit will inaugurate the 12th edition of 9-day Delhi Book Fair on September 16, 2006 and eminent poet Javed Akhtar will be the Guest of Honour at the inaugural function.
Presenting the best of Indian books in a large number of languages and on a wide range of subject, the fair is being organised by the India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO) in association with the Federation of Indian Publishers (FIP) along with two other popular events of the ITPO Stationery Fair and Sajavat.
Foreign participation includes publishers and distributors from the US, China, Iran, Pakistan and Mauritius.
A 20-member delegtion from Pakistan besides several buyers from the UK, Indonesia, Malaysia, Mauritius and Uganda are expected to visit the fair.
Delhi Book Fair is of particular significance to the entire pubishing industry at this juncture when global demand for Indian books/text books is on the rise, India has also been accorded the coveted Guest Country Status at the Frankfurt Book Fair 2006, German and Guest of Honour in Salan Du Fiare, Parish in March 2007.
The 8th edition of Stationery Fair offers a wide range of educational and office stationery products including paper products, writing instruments, computer peripherals, drawing and painting materials and office supplies, while Sajavat covers furniture, household products and stationary ware, household appliances, kitchenware, entertain, electronic/lifestyle products, handicrafts and artefacts, travel goods, furnishing/linens, cosmetics and toileteries.
