Oppn parties should not polticise Chikungunya: PT leader
Chennai, Sep 13 (UNI) Puthiya Tamizhagam (PT) founder-president Dr K Krishnaswamy today said the opposition parties in Tamil Nadu should not polticise the 'Chikungunya' issue.
Talking to newspersons here, he criticised the proposed statewide demonstrations to be orgainsed by the AIADMK, and other parties on September 16 against the state government's failure to contain Chikungunya.
Instead of wasting energy and money for organising the unwanted demonstrations, the parties should conduct special medical camps all over the state by utilising the services of medical professionals in the party to treat the patients, he added.
The PT leader said the Union Government should declare Chikungunya as a national disaster and take remedial steps on a warfooting to contain the disease.
As there was only one laboratory at Pune to clinically analyse the disease, he wanted the Taml Nadu government to set up such a testing lab in the state. Similar laboratories should also be established at atleast one in each state.
He said the Union and state governments should arrange free medicines as a special case to those admitted in private hospitals for Chikungnya.
