India, Brazil to continue G-4 initiative for UNSC seats
Brasilia, Sep 13 (UNI) India and Brazil have decided to continue working closely together in the G-4 framework to realise their aspirations for permanent seats in the United Nations Security Council.
The G-4 initiate on UN reforms also includes Germany and Japan.
In a joint communique issued after their summit meeting here yesterday, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva said both countries attached high priority to reforming the UN to make it more effective and attuned to present-day realities.
''India and Brazil will continue to work closely together in the framework of G-4 in order to realise their aspirations to serve as permanent members on a reformed and expanded UN Security Council so as to make the world body more democratic, representative and reflective of the changed world order,'' the communique added.
