Hectic political activity on in MCD for relief to sealed shops

New Delhi, Sep 13 (UNI) Hectic activity among MCD leaders for relief to various sections of Delhi's population continued for the second day today even as the people and small traders of Delhi waited for the final notification of 2000 roads, listed by the MCD as commercial or mixed use areas.

Leader of the opposition in the MCD Subhash Arya today met Urban Development Minister Jaipal Reddy and submitted a memorandum demanding regularisation of markets like Rajouri Garden which were running before operation of the Master Plan in 1962.

The memorandum also urged Mr Reddy that coaching centres be allowed to operate in rural areas and pre-primary schools be allowed in floors other than ground floor.

Meanwhile, the sealing operation of MCd continued though it seemed to have lost some of its steam.

In Central Zone, nine properties were sealed while demolition action was carried out at Gobind Puri where unauthorized construction was going on.

In Rohini Zone, demolition action was carried out at three properties while seven properties sealed for misuse.

In Shahdara North Zone, tinsheds of 200 shops at Main Wazirabad Road to Sonia Vihar, 1st to 3rd Pusta were removed. 5 rickshawas, 7 rehris and 32 miscellaneous items were also seized.

In Najafgarh Zone three properties were sealed for misuse while demolition action was carried out at eight properties.

In South Zone, 15 shops were sealed while in Karol Bagh, 13 properties were sealed.

In Sadar Paharganj Zone, 13 tyre-retreading shops were sealed at Goshala Road. In Shahdara (South) Zone, 30 shops were sealed in Jawalapur, and Lalita Park.
