Govt releases Rs 1.69 crore assistance for Kargil distt

New Delhi, Sep 13 (UNI) The Government has released Rs.1,69 crore as entire allocation of central assistance under Sampoorna Grameen Rozgar Yojana (SGRY) to Kargil district in Jammu&Kashmir for 2006-07.

The assistance released by the Ministry of Rural Development constitutes cash component of the central assistance for execution of works under the SGRY.

Under the programme, Central and the State Governments share the expenditure on 75:25 basis.

The State Government has been directed to release funds to the District Panchayat, Intermediate Panchayats and Village Panchayats in the proportion of 20:30:50 respectively within 15 days of the receipt of funds from the Centre or the State government without waiting for matching share from either of the governments.

The Ministry has also approved the release of 1,331 tonnes of common rice as full share of total allocation of foodgrains to Kargil district under SGRY for the current financial year. The foodgrains are being released through FCI Depots in the state.

The foodgrains will be given as part of wages under the SGRY programme to the rural poor.
