BCCI and BCA challenge J'khand high court order in SC

New Delhi, Sep 13 (UNI) Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and Bihar Cricket Association (BCA) have challenged in the Supreme Court the order of Jharkhand High Court dated September 7, 2006 directing that the office bearers and members of Jharkhand State Cricket Association shall be allowed to participate in BCCI meetings and also exercise their right to vote in the elections.

The matter was mentioned today before a bench comprising Justices B N Agarwal, P P Naolekar and Lokeshwar Singh Panta for getting it listed for urgent hearing.

The apex court fixed September 18, 2006 for hearing of the matter.

In the meantime parties gave an undertaking that they would seek an adjournment in high court where the matter is coming for hearing on September 15.

The petitioners have challenged the order on the ground that the high court has granted the main relief sought in writ petition by way of the interim order.

The petitioners have also contended that impugned order infringes the rights of BCA which was not made a party in the high court.

This is how BCA has been denied the right of hearing before a court where its rights are being affected.

BCCI President Sharad Pawar and Secretary Niranjan Shah have also been made party in the case .
