Western Union agreement with Travelex

Chandigarh, Sept 11: Western Union, a worldwide leader in money transfer services today announced that its authorised agent, AFL Ltd had entered into a strategic agreement with Travelex, the world's largest non-bank foreign exchange payments company to provide inbound money transfer services.

Travelex locations will now exclusively offer the Western Union Money Transfer service, making it available at 650 of their 700 retail locations in city centres and across 97 airports worldwide.

In India, Travelex has signed an agreement to be a sub-agent of AFL Ltd, one of Western Union's primary agents in the country.

The agreement marks an important milestone in the ongoing expansion of the Western Union global network, Mr Gavin Azavedo, Chief Executive Officer of Travelex, India said in a statement today.

Travelex locations at the world's leading airports extend Western Union's reach to more than 185 million people living outside their country of origin. Moreoever, forty per cent of the world's airline passengers pass through airports where Travelex operates its retail foreign exchange branches, including major gateways such as London, New York, Hong Kong, Frankfurt and Sydney.

''Globally we selected Western Union because of its ability to provide quick, convenient and secure money transfer services to customers around the world,'' Mr Azavedo said.
