Wadiyar urges K'taka Govt to change script of sound
Mysore, Sep 11 (UNI) Scion of the erstwhile Mysore royal family Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wadiyar today raised objections to the script prepared for the sound and light programme in the Mysore Palace and urged the Karnataka Government to effect some changes.
Speaking to newspersons here, he claimed that the script prepared by the State Government had twisted history and made no reference to the Wadiyar family. He had already informed those concerned many times and unless the script was changed after thoroughly studying history, he would not accept the same, he said.
Noting that matters regarding the palace property were sub-judice, Mr Wadiyar asked the Government to take steps carefully and refused to elaborate on the issue.
Receiving the official invitation to participate in the Mysore Dasara festivities, commencing here from September 23, he said he would extend all help for the conduct of the fest. The State Government had sought his permission to display the priceless golden throne from September 15, but he had asked for a letter from the Palace Trust Deputy Director as the traditional Dasara pooja begins only from September 23.
On the State Government's plans to host a dinner with him, he said he was not in a position to accept it due to special poojas throughout the Dasara period. The private durbar would continue as usual, he added.
Earlier, district incharge Minister D T Jayakumar invited Mr Wadiyar in a traditional manner to participate in the Dasara festivities at the palace premises.
