UAE Ambassador calls on Prince of Arcot
Chennai, Sept 11 (UNI) The Ambassador of United Arab Emirates (UAE) to India, Abdullah Ebrahim Alzoy Al Shehhi, today called on the Prince of Arcot, Mohammed Abdul Ali at his residence ''Amir Mahal'' here.
During the brief visit, which was described as a courtesy call, the Prince congratulated the Ambassador for his tireless efforts in promoting goodwill relationship in many aspects between India and the UAE, a release from Amir Mahal said.
The Ambassador evinced keen interest in the political history of the Carnatic, under the Nawabs, during the 16th and 17th centuries in South India, the release said.
The dignitary appreciated the religious policies of the then Nawabs of the Carnatic towards non-Muslims and their contributions to Hindus and Christians for their places of worship.
