Written by: Staff

Imphal, Sep 11 (UNI) The All Manipur Anti-Drug Association (AMADA) has made an appeal to all transporters, transport agencies, courier services not to transport any sort of drugs and banned items.

The AMADA had launched a major drive in the state against drugs and alcohol. So far the AMADA has hauled up large numbers of drug pushers, alcohol suppliers and made to apologise in public.

Manipur is a dry state and sale of liquor is completely banned.

AMADA members said they reached an understanding with the transporters and a public meeting will be held on September 24 next to discuss the issue.

The AMADA said the transporters ferrying banned items would be fined and all documents would be seized and services of the transporters banned for 20 days. The AMADA will also be allowed to check all vehicles.
