Rupee weakens by six paise

Mumbai, Sept 11: Rupee today weakened to close low at Rs 46.30/31 per US Dollar compared to Rs 46.22/24 per US Dollar on Friday, as the Dollar grew stronger in comparison to other Asian currencies and also on the solid performance of the Indian stock market, a trader in the money market said.

Earlier, the Rupee opened at Rs 46.24/26 per USD and by mid-morning session traded at 46.25/26/US Dollar.

RBI today fixed the Reference Rate at Rs 46.27/US Dollar compared to the previous rate of 46.20 per USD on Tuesday.

The six month forward premia was fixed high at 1.39 per cent and the one year forward premia was also fixed high at 1.37 per cent.

The Rupee however showed an improved performance against other currencies like the Euro.

Rupee closed up at Rs 58.70 (58.77), against Pound Sterling it closed up at Rs 86.15 (86.49) and against Yen it closed up at Rs 39.37 (39.74).
