Railways carry 288.73 milion tonnes of freight during April-August

New Delhi, Sep 11 (UNI) The Railways carried 288.73 million tonnes of revenue-earning freight during April-August this year, registering an increase of 25.82 million tonnes over the freight of 262.91 milion tonnes during the corresponding period last year.

During August this year, the freight carried by the Railways was pegged at 55.52 million tonnes.

This marked an incresae of 3.96 million tonnes over the actual freight of 51.56 million tonnes carried during the same period last year, a ministry spokesman said today.
