Police well-equipped to meet Maoist threat: Minister
Kanchikacherla (Andhra Pradesh), Sep 11: Andhra Pradesh Home Minister K Jana Reddy has said the police are well-equipped to meet any threat from Maoists.
Talking to newsmen here last evening, Mr Reddy said the seizure of rocket launchers in Mahaboobnagar and Prakasam Districts only underscored the effective strategy deployed by the police to thwart the evil designs of the Maoists.
Almost all the rocket launchers being transported to the Maoists had been seized and if one or two bags have reached them, the police will get them also, he said.
The police had successfully prevented the weapons from falling into the hands of Maoists, Mr Reddy said even as he felt there were no takers for their ideology and that their influence had come down drastically in the recent days.
Ruling out any law and order problem in the state, he said the state government did not support fake encounters and made all possible efforts to resolve the problem through 'dialogue.'
