New Delhi, Sep 11 (UNI) Expressing concern over the arrest of a senior journalist in Orissa, the National Union of Journalists (NUJ) today demanded his immediate release and an impartial probe into the case.

Union President N K Trikha said a letter in this regard had been sent to Orissa Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.

The NUJ has set up a three-member committee to look into the arrest of Mr A P Biswal, who was working for Oriya daily 'Pragativadi' for more than 25 years.

The committee will try to meet Mr Biswal and talk with senior officials.

Mr Biswal had filed a case in the labour court for recovery of dues from the newspaper. The NUJ said the newspaper management had retaliated by lodging a criminal complaint of fraud against him and having him arrested.
