New Delhi, Sep 11 (UNI) With the MCD today designating 2000 roads in E, F and G colonies of Delhi as commercial or mixed use roads to provide relief to traders in these areas, the drive by the Corporation expectedly seemed to have lost steam with just 80 shops being sealed in different areas.

With notification of these 2000 roads by the Lt Governor expected in a few days, the MCD seemed to have adopted a "go slow" policy on sealings.

In Central zone, four shops were sealed while encroachment removal action was carried out at Lajpat Nagar-IV near Sanatan Dharam School. In Rohini zone, ten properties were sealed for misuse while in South zone, 13 properties were sealed.

In Shahdara (North) zone, 29 shops were sealed while seven properties were sealed for ongoing construction and demolition action was taken at four properties.

In Najafgarh zone 14 shops were sealed while many properties were demolished in near Jharoda Village.

In Civil Line zone, three properties were sealed while in city Zone, 7 shops were sealed.

In Karol Bagh zone, 21 properties were sealed.

Meanwhile, traders continued their agitation against sealing.

The coal traders traders today staged a strong protest dharna at Jantar Mantar raising their voice against the ban and sale of Coal and Wood in Delhi as per the recent Amendment in the Master Plan 2001.

Leader of the Opposition in the Delhi Legislative assembly, in a statement issued here today, criticised the sealing action by the MCD in the local commercial areas in West Delhi, Patel Nagar and Karol Bagh.

Alleging that the MCD was totally confused while sealing the shops, Prof Mukhi said,''the public notice issued by the MCd states that action be taken in respect of unauthorised development in residential areas which are dealing with hazardous trade but MCD is not taking action. Instead, they have started sealing in local commercial areas which have come up since 1955.'' He demanded from Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit that she should intervene and give clear cut instructions to the MCD not to take sealing action in local comemrcial areas.
