Hippopotamus calf born in Mysore Zoo

Mysore, Sep 11 (UNI) A Hippopotamus calf was born in the century-old Mysore Zoo last evening, adding more tourist attraction during the coming Dasara festivities.

With this addition, the number of Hippopotamus in the zoo had risen to six.

Mysore Zoo Executive Director G V Ranga Rao, in a release here today, said both mother Rani and the calf were keeping good health.

Rani (25), brought from Thiruvananthapuram Zoo in 1984 when it was two years old, had given birth six times. The father Suraj was around 24 years.
