Haryana to celebrate Martyrdom Day on Sep 23

Chandigarh, Sep 11 (UNI) The Haryana Government will celebrate Haryana War Heroes and Martyrdom Day on September 23 in honour of the martyrs of the state who had laid down their lives while safeguarding the frontiers of the nation.

Martyrdom Day would be celebrated in a fitting way. Floral tributes would be paid to the martyrs by organising public meetings, functions and seminars at district headquarters. Dependents of the martyrs would also be honoured by giving them mementos. Freedom fighters would also be invited to take part in these functions.

At the district headquarters, rallies would be organised which would pass through the main roads of the districts. The participants in the rallies would include members of Youth Clubs, students, sportspersons and staff of the District Sports and Youth Welfare Department. Efforts would also be made to invite ex-servicemen to take part in these rallies.
