H-K region's independence anniversary to be celebrated on Sep 17

Gulbarga, Sep 11 (UNI) Karnataka will celebrate the 58th anniversary of independence of the Hyderabad-Karnataka region from the tyranny of the Nizams of Hyderabad, here on September 17.

Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy, his Deputy B S Yediyurappa and Prince Fazal-ja-Bahuddur, son of 17th Nizam Mir-Ushaman-Alikhan, would participate in the 'Vimochana Din' celebrations, Vimochana Din Jagarana Samithi President Sushil Namoshi, MLC, informed newspersons here today.

He said that even after India became independent on August 15, 1947, the H-K region was ruled by the Nizams till September 17, 1948. To mark the occasion, the Samithi would celebrate it in a big way and hold several programmes in Gulbarga.
