CPI(M) Politbureau meet begins tomorrow

Kolkata,Sep 11(UNI) The two-day CPI(M) Politbureau meeting begins here tomorrow taking up for discussions the coming assembly polls as the main agenda.

Issues like the UPA Government's economic and foreign policies, convertibility of rupee and strengthening of frontal organisations will also feature in the meeting.

" The coming assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh, Uttaranchal and Punjab will be discussed at the Politbureau meeting. We will also take stock of our nationwide campaign throughout August and discuss ways to strengthen the organisation," party's state committee Secretary Biman Basu told reporters.

CPI(M) General Secretary Prakash Karat and other leaders, including Mr Jyoti Basu will be present at the meeting.

The Politbureau is likely to explore possibilities of forging a broadbased left alliance in the poll bound states. It will also take up for discussion a note prepared following the Tarapore Committee's report on full convertibility of rupee before it is placed for ratification by the Central Committee.
