CHRC directs ex-gratia for deceased schoolchildren's family
Raipur, Sep 11 (UNI) The Chhattisgarh Human Rights Commission (CHRC) has directed the state government to provide Rs one lakh ex-gratia each to family members of two children, who died in roof collapse incident in a school at Bataupali village in Raigarh district.
Taking suo moto cognizance of newspaper about the fatalities, the CHRC had sought report from the district collector.
The report stated that Dilip and Mahendra died when the kitchen roof of the school collapsed on August 29. Poor quality of construction led to the incident.
The CHRC directed the government to provide the compensation amount within three months. The government was free to collect the amount from guilty persons.
The Raigarh Chief Executive Officer informed the CHRC that guilty persons -- Sarangadh block panchayat sub-engineer and Bataupali village sarpanch -- were suspended after the incident for poor quality of construction.
