Traditional brides in demand in China, India
Bhopal, Sep 10 (UNI) Various factors are fuelling the demand for potential brides in many East and Southeast Asian countries, including China and India.
Increase in number of working women coupled with a trend to delay marriage and childbearing has led to a demand for ''traditional'' brides in these countries.
The United Nations Population Fund has listed out several other reasons behind the increased demand for ''traditional'' brides in these countries.
Other factors leading to shortage of brides include the problem of ''missing'' girls with as many as 100 million girls and women missing due to elimination through parental sex elimination and infantcide.
As per the report, China and India had 40.1 and 39.1 million missing women and girls.
