Sonia to decide on poll alliances in Punjab:Deputy CM

Patiala, Sep 10 (UNI) Poll alliances in Punjab for coming assembly elections would be made at the behest of Congress president Sonia Gandhi, Deputy Chief Minister Rajinder Kaur Bhattal, said here today.

Talking to newspersons after inaugurating the lift irrigation scheme for the about half a dozen villages at Sarai Kala village, she said Ms Gandhi would decide whether to forge an alliance with the Left parties or with ''other like minded parties''. The state Congress would abide by Ms Gandhi's decision, she added.

Making a scathing attack on the SAD- BJP, she said the two were politically bankrupt and had no agenda or issue on which to fight the elections.
