MONZA, Italy, Sep 10 (Reuters) Ferrari's Michael Schumacher won what could be his last Italian Grand Prix today to slash championship leader Fernando Alonso's lead to two points with three races left.

Ferrari also took the lead from Renault in the constructors' championship.

It was Schumacher's 90th career victory, with his chances of an unprecedented eighth title before his possible retirement at the end of the season burning as strongly as the luckless Alonso's engine.

The Spaniard, who had started the day 12 points clear of Schumacher, pulled over with smoke and flames billowing from the rear of the Renault while he was running in third place with 10 laps to go.

McLaren's Kimi Raikkonen took second place after starting on pole position with Poland's Robert Kubica an impressive third for BMW Sauber in only his third grand prix since replacing former champion Jacques Villeneuve.
