Chennai, Sep 10 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi today cancelled a Government Order (GO) issued by the previous AIADMK regime, allowing transfer of Government Employees working in State Secretariat to other places.

In a statement here, he said the GO was issued by the previous regime in 2003 as an aftermath of the strike launched by the government employees in July that year.

The order, under which the government servants could also be shifted from one department to other citing administrative reasons, was issued immediately after the strike to harass the government employees.

While more than 1000 files sent to former Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa's office for signature were pending, she had signed this file on September 11, 2003 after it was sent to her on August 26 that year, he pointed out.

''After the new DMK government assumed office, it accepted the demand of the Tamil Nadu State Secretariat's Association and cancelled the GO, which was against the interests of the Government employees,'' Mr Karunanidhi said.
