Health services thrown out of gear as JIPMER stir continues
Pondicherry, Sept 10 (UNI) Health services in the centrally administered JIPMER hospital were totally affected, for the third sucessive day today, as the employees continued their strike.
The JIPMER anti-conversion action committee decided to continue their stir following the failure of the talks between them and union health secretary Prasanna Hota yesterday. The employees were demanding that the union cabinet should revoke it's approval given to convert JIPMER into an autonomous institution and bring it on par with AIIMS, New Delhi and P G Centre, Chandigarh.
The JIMPER campus wore a deserted look with patients not turning up and many of the inpatients having shifted to other hospitals.
Meanwhile, tight security had been provided by the police to prevent any untoward incidents.
