Family of Bachitar wait for his dead body from Saudi Arabia
Dharamshala, Sep 10 (UNI) The body of a resident of Kangra district, who died in Saudi Arabia on July 14 this year, is yet to be traced causing immense agony and trauma for his family here.
Bachitar Singh, a generator operator in the Kingdom for the last 13 years, died there after brief illness. In gross violation of the law the employer of the deceased did not inform the Indian Embassy and it was only a colleague of Bachitar who informed the Consulate that his body had been kept in a hospital in Miskin.
Moreover, according to the information provided by the colleague the employer had demanded Rs 3.60 lakh from Bachitar's family for preserving the body and sending it back to India.
Palampur Sub Divisional Magistrate(SDM) S M Verma today said the Saudi authorities have conducted a search for the body, based on information provided to the Indian Embassy in the Kingdom, but without any success.
Mr Verma said the latest information he had about the deceased was that the body had been kept in a hospital in a small town of Abhu Road, 60 kms from Titliph. He said he had conveyed this information to the Embassy yesterday.
All expenses for bringing back the body will be paid by the state government, Mr Verma added.
