Development to be chief election plank of Cong - Rawat

Hardwar, Sep 10 (UNI) State Congress President Harish Rawat today said, Development will be the chief election plank of the Party in the coming Assembly elections, '.

Speaking to newsmen here, he claimed that the N D Tiwari-led Congress government had already fulfilled 70 per cent of the promises made in last Assembly elections' manifesto.

He said the recently concluded meeting of the BJP national executive and the rally held at Dehradun would not adversely impact the electoral prospects of Congress and expressed confidence that the party would return to power after the Assembly elections.

Talking about the two-day conference of the Chief Ministers of Congress ruled states to be held at Nainital from September 23, Mr Rawat said the main issues to be discussed would be on how to stem the decline in agricultural production during recent years, spiralling prices, maintaining social harmony in view of terrorists' attacks and the economy of the Himalayan states.
