CM pays homage to Govind Ballabh Pant
Lucknow, Sep 10 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav paid homage to Bharat Ratna awardee Pandit Govind Ballabh Pant on the auspicious occasion of his 119th birth anniversary today.
Mr Yadav described the leader as an ardent freedom fighter, a patriot, a statesman and an eminent parliamentarian.
''As the first chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, he laid the foundation of states's development. Pantji made efforts to streamline roads, power and irrigation sectors of UP.'' the Chief Minister said.
He added ''Had the policies of the charismatic leader been adhered to, the states would have developed a long time back.'' Stating Pantji's role as novel in making Hindi an official language, Mr Yadav said he also dealt with the problems of the organisation of states like Punjab, Kashmir and Asom with great efficacy.
Garlanding the portrait of former Union minister, the CM stated he was acclaimed both for his administrative calibre as well as for progressive vision. He championed numerous forward-looking polices and programmes, he added.
