BJP condemns proposed meeting between PM, Musharraf in Cuba

Dehradun, Sep 10 (UNI) The BJP today condemned Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's proposed meeting with Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf at the NAM summit in Cuba.

Talking to newspersons after the three-day National Executive of the BJP, party president Rajnath Singh said ''The talk with the Pakistan president would encourage terrorism and separatism.'' Pakistan has become the epicenter of global terrorism and till it destroys the terrorist camps in the country, there was no relevance of talks with Pakistan, he claimed.

''BJP is not in favour of India carrying out confidence building measures with Pakistan specially in the present scenario,'' he said.

He suggested India could help destroy terrorist camps in Pakistan and Bangladesh if both the governments desired so.

Giving examples of terrorist attacks in Malegaon and recovery of missiles in Mehboobnagar, Mr Singh said the ''confidence of terrorists has turned into dauntlessness''. Not ruling out ISI involvement in terrorism, he said the international security agencies should keep the ISI under scanner.

Advocating stringent law to deal with terrorism in India, the BJP president said his party would support any such step of the UPA government. ''UPA can enforce the Law in any other name,'' he said.

Stating that the party supported reservation for women, he stressed that the Bill should be passed in the winter session of Parliament.
